Cut And Paste from the msn nine site.

Police have appealed for calm but refused to disclose the identity of a man gunned down in a brazen daylight drive-by shooting in Sydney.

A 37-year-old Condell Park man, named by newspapers as alleged crime boss Abdul Qadier Darwiche, died at the wheel of his car after being sprayed by gunfire on the Hume Highway at Miller Road, in Bass Hill, about 3.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

Police said two men were involved in an argument at a nearby service station shortly before the shooting.

After being shot in his vehicle, the man managed to drive a short distance before crashing into a tree on the opposite side of the road.

Paramedics found him slumped dead over the wheel, police said.

A NSW police spokesman said the investigation was in its early stages.

"We haven't released the identity of the victim," he said on Sunday.

In September 2007, police Detective Inspector Michael Ryan publicly named Abdul Darwiche as the head of a "criminal syndicate", Fairfax reports.

In 2006, Darwiche was found not guilty of the attempted murder of Farouk "Frank" Razzack who allegedly headed a rival clan, it reports.

Abdul Darwiche is the older brother of Adnan "Eddie" Darwiche of Lakemba who has been jailed for a double murder.

Detective Inspector Ian Pryde of Bankstown police said it was too early to rule anything in or out.

"I would call for calm," he told Macquarie Radio.

"We're still in the very early stages of the investigation.

"At this stage, we're having a look at all avenues of inquiry."

He appealed for public help in finding a car seen driving away on Miller Road in the moments after the shooting.

Anyone who sees a silver 1997 Honda CRV is warned not to approach the vehicle but to call triple-0.

They just showed the family from who one of them was shot. And they said it is a fued going on between two families.
And there is drugs involved to. I don't want to have anything to do with this sort of stuff in my life.
And if it is a drug war like we had here in Victoria. Then let them shoot eachother as loong as the innocent people are kept out of it.
