Cut and past from the East Fremantle Football site.
The East Fremantle Football Club and District would like to acknowledge and congratulated the three former Sharks players who were selected in the AFL Pre-Season Draft this morning.
Port Adelaide, who had Selection 2, redrafted former player Josh Carr. Carr who had spent the last few years at Fremantle, had moved back to Adelaide and had been training with the Power prior to todays draft.
Carlton selected former Melbourne listed player Chris Johnson with Selection 4. Johnson had failed to come to terms with the Demons after a good finish to the 2008 season and subsequently opted to nominate for the pre-season draft. Johnson had been training with the Blues throughout pre-season and looks set for a big 2009 with his new club.
Finally with Selection 6, the last pick of the Pre-season Draft, Richmond Football Club ended a week of speculation by selecting former West Coast Eagles Captain and Brownlow Medallist Ben Cousins. Cousins, who had been de-registered by the AFL throughout the 2008 season, is now set to continue his distinguished football career at Punt Road under the guidance of Senior Coach Terry Wallace.
To have over 50% of the Pre-season draft picks to be former Sharks players is a remarkable achievement, and something the club is extremely proud of. We wish these players all the very best at their new AFL clubs. These three players join Liam Anthony (North Melbourne) and Kieran King (Brisbane Lions) as the East Fremantle players to be drafted in this years AFL drafts.
